We thank Ambassador Vimont for his friendship and service over the past three years and wish him well in his next career as the Executive Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS). The EEAS is a European Union department that was formally launched on December 1, 2010, and serves as a foreign ministry and diplomatic corps for the EU, implementing the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and other areas of the EU's external representation.
