Meet the Artist:
Andrea Krupp A graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she studied printmaking, Andrea Krupp began painting "plein air" watercolor and gouache landscapes in the early 1990's. Since that time she has exhibited her paintings in numerous solo shows and juried / group exhibitions. Andrea Krupp has exhibited her artwork in galleries in the United States and Europe. She is currently represented by the Whitney Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA; Carspecken-Scott Gallery in Wilmington, DE, and The Connor Ryan gallery in Wayne, PA. She has also exhibited with the Raab Gallery in Chestnut Hill, PA, and Galerie Caroline Corre in Paris, France. Her paintings are held in private collections in the United States and Europe, and she is also represented in the permanent collection of the Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, and in the special collections departments of Colorado College, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Vermont, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Vennecy Silo from the
Field Beauce, France Just south of Paris lies the Beauce region, an agricultural plain dotted with farmsteads and villages. Many of the fields grow sugarbeets destined for processing in the town of Artenay, in the enormous sugar refinery that looms, Oz-like, on the horizon. Large grain silos punctuate the landscape like castles. Here is an excerpt from a BLOG that Andrea Krupp published while painting in France: “November 3: Woke up to a beautiful morning. Here is today’s effort, the silo at Ouvrouer-les-champs. It was amazing to watch all the activity as truck after truck pulled up to the silo to deliver the grain for drying. After about an hour of constant coming and going, the flurry of trucks finally cleared out....and a brilliant yellow ochre mountain of corn was revealed....Tomorrow, I’ll head to Bazoches to spend some quality time with the lovely silo up there.” InLiquid is a nonprofit artist membership organization dedicated to expanding opportunities and exposure for visual artists while serving as a free public hub for arts information. By providing the public with immediate access to view the works of over 260 artists via the world wide web, through "real world" activities and exhibitions, and through an extensive online body of timely art information – including gallery listings, articles, reviews, artist resources, links, and discussions -- InLiquid hopes to bring to light the richness of our region's art activity and broaden audiences for all forms of visual art. Philadelphia’s historic Crane Building consists of four floors of artist studios and suites. It houses artists of many disciplines, architecture and design firms, as well as arts organizations such as InLiquid, Nexus, Claymobile and Gallery 201. Designed by Walter Ballinger and completed 1905, the Crane Building was originally home to the Crane Plumbing Company. It was almost 100 years later, in 2004, when Crane Arts LLC was founded and began rehabilitating the Crane complex. With a strategic location at 1001 N. 2nd Street on the new Piazza at Schmidt's, Vino's giant, modern glass windows and doors open out onto the courtyard. Their outdoor seating and lounge areas, complete with butcher block tables, flickering candles, and leather couches, along with the chocolate and cream color scheme, make the ambience relaxed and romantic. You'll feel as though you're in a traditional European café. Enormous photographs of the owner's family from the Old World hang in the dining room where waiters circulate with plates of Italian and European specialties. Like the popular wine bars Vintage and Tria, Vino offers wines by the glass, as well as snacks like blue cheese stuffed figs wrapped in prosciutto, white bean and herb dip, gourmet brick-oven pizzas, and lemon basil chicken paninis. Service is friendly and educated on the menu and wine list, an important quality when requesting pairings of food and wine.
