Patricia McCarthy is senior vice president, finance and chief financial
officer of Arkema Inc. (formerly Atofina Chemicals, Inc.). Prior to this
position, McCarthy was vice president, Finance & Operations of Pearson
Education France. Pearson Education France is a subsidiary of Pearson PLC, a
British company. Pearson is an international media entity that publishes the
business newspaper Financial Times, and owns Penguin in the United States.
Pearson Education is the world’s largest education publishing company.
Prior to her employment at Pearson, Patricia was co-founder and general
director of Finance for Simon & Schuster Macmillan, a subsidiary of Viacom,
which, following its acquisition by Pearson in 1998, became CampusPress
France.
Patricia brings more than 18 years' finance and accounting experience having
also held positions with Top-Log/Interquad, a software distributor under
Unix; Editions Sybex, an independent publisher of computer books; and Arthur
Andersen.
She is a graduate of the École Supérieure des Sciences Économiques et
Commerciales in France and holds diplomas of Higher Accounting and Financial
Studies.
Arkema was launched on October 1, 2004, as a result of the reorganization of
Total’s chemicals business. Arkema has tremendous potential and counts on
the experience and expertise of its 19,300 employees worldwide to create a
company of innovation, growth and performance.
With EUR 5 billion ($6 billion) in sales worldwide, 90 industrial sites in
more than 40 countries, and six research and development centers, Arkema is
