After more than 34 years with Ernst & Young, Bob Snyder retired in September 2000. He and his wife, Jan, returned to their west coast roots. They have purchased acreage in Healdsburg, California, the Sonoma Valley wine country, just north of San Francisco. Mr. Snyder joined the San Francisco office of what is now Ernst & Young in 1966. He and his family transferred to Paris in 1970, where they resided five years before returning to California. Mr. Snyder made partner in Orange County in 1978, and moved shortly thereafter to the office in The Hague. In 1982, Mr. Snyder was placed in charge of the Dusseldorf, Germany Office. In 1985, he returned to Paris, where he served as Director of Audit until his return to the U.S. in 1988. Mr. Snyder helped found the Philadelphia Chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce and served as President from its inception in 1989 until March of 2000. Mr. Snyder also helped to form the Board of the Center City Crime Victim Services, and served as chair. He also served as a member of the Advisory Council of the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships, which launched a program to offer fellowships aborad for mid-career leaders from our region. In retirement, Mr. Snyder has continued to pursue his passions of sculpting and music.
