William T. Burns
Director of Global Business
Asher & Company, Ltd.

Bill Burns, a Tax Department director, joined Asher & Company, Ltd. in 1991. During his tenure with the organization, Mr. Burns has provided tax planning and preparation services for an extensive and diverse client base, including: investment groups, real estate developers, manufactures, distributors, retailers, service organizations, and a host of International business entities. Performing a wealth of tax related engagements, Mr. Burns brings particular expertise to taxation issues affecting partnerships, closely held businesses and Multi-state/International organizations operating as S corporations or C corporations.

Mr. Burns has advised clients on inbound investments in the United States, including structuring cross-border ownership, repatriation planning, treaty planning, transfer pricing, branch profits tax issues, and multi-state income and sales tax planning. In addition, he brings a wealth of experience in utilizing the benefits applicable to foreign sales corporations as well as those related to the Extraterritorial Income Exclusion (EIE) for Exporters. Mr. Burns also has substantial experience in planning and compliance associated with the individual taxation of expatriates and inpatriates of multinational organizations, including compensation planning, treaty planning equalization and dealing with totalization agreements.

Mr. Burns conducts periodic seminars on pertinent tax related policies and procedures, volunteers through the PICPA's Small Business Assistance Series and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Drexel University's "Drexel Experience" program.

Mr. Burns is a Certified Public Accountant and has a B.S. in accounting from Drexel University.

His affiliations and community leadership include: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, British American Business Council, Drexel University (faculty), French-American Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors), German American Chamber of Commerce, Ireland Chamber of Commerce United States of America, and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
