FACC Philadelphia Internships for College Students & Recent Graduates 

TITLE:  Part-time Volunteer Internships with the Philadelphia Chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce.  

 

Flexible hours, occasionally some early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required for special events. Ability to work independently and remotely once trained and skilled in office procedures. Must have MAC or Windows laptop. Minimum 20 hours a week - Maximum 35 hours a week.  Minimum 3-month commitment - Maximum 18-month commitment.

1)  Membership & Event Marketing Coordinator. Membership marketing, promotion and development. Excel database management to update member contact information. Prepare and send new member welcome packages (knowledge of Word/Excel merges a huge plus!) and member renewal letters and cards. Training will be provided in basic accounts receivable invoicing with QuickBooks Online to collect  and deposit membership dues. Communicate the FACC’s mission, benefits, services and activities at events to recruit new members. Identify new Corporate Member prospects, provide information, and follow-up. Promotion of FACC events to generate excitement and recruit registrants. Create content for email announcements (Constant Contact or WixShoutOut). Support event planning, corporate fundraising, and in-kind donations for raffle and business card drawings. Prepare name tags, welcome guests at events, assist with set-up and break-down.

 

Create e-newsletters and prepare announcements in Constant Contact or WixShoutOut and social media to inform members and contacts of the FACC’s activities. Negotiate discounts from Corporate Members, service providers and retailers to enhance the Programme Privilège, our Membership Benefits program. Market Website Partners sponsorship to Associate and Senior Corporate Members.

 

Training to update our Wix.com website, though we would welcome an intern with an expertise in website development to take our website to the next level. Special Project for IT talented Individual: create an online membership directory on our Wix.com website with a password, accessible to Members only, and explore plug-ins and widgets to enhance website capabilities.

 

Interns are responsible for writing, reviewing and editing a procedure sheet for each task to update and improve the FACC Intern Procedures Manual.

 

2)  Editor/Marketing Manager of FACC Membership Directory. Prepare the proposal for Corporate Members offering directory sponsorships in exchange for a corporate announcement to cover all printing and mailing costs and fundraise for the organization. Invoice, collect payments, keep track of and obtain and create announcements, verify member contact information, obtain contact information for new representatives on Corporate Memberships, create content, manage layout and design of directory, contact information, past program descriptions and photos, and list of useful resources for business, travel, living/working in Philadelphia, moving, living/working in France, etc. Manage the printing process and distribution of the directory by mail to the members. Intern is responsible for writing, reviewing and editing a procedure sheet for each task to enhance the FACC Intern Procedures Manual.

 

3)  Trade Services Assistant.  Native French language proficiency with a working knowledge of business English. Market Research and Trade Services: follow up with French leads, research and report on specific industries, fieldwork (price check, collect market info, build databases), calling companies to schedule BtoB meetings, make travel and hotel reservations, provide support in the organization of trade missions. Assist with internet research to respond to French and American business and trade inquiries. Intern is responsible for writing, reviewing and editing a procedure sheet for each task to enhance the FACC Intern Procedures Manual.

 

 

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:  The mission of the French American Chamber of Commerce – Philadelphia Chapter is to develop and facilitate French-American business relations in the Greater Philadelphia area (PA, DE, So.NJ) and with France. FACC-Philadelphia is a membership-driven, non-profit business association, which was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1989. The FACC network is not affiliated with the French or US government, nor is it subsidized by the Chambers of Commerce in France or the US. Instead, we are proud to remain independent and apolitical thanks to the support of our local French and American-Francophile business leaders and their companies.

 

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:  The FACC Philadelphia seeks conscientious college students or recent graduates to join our mission as a part-time volunteer. Must be committed to learning new skills and assisting the American Executive Director and the French Trade Director in the daily operations of this non-profit, member-supported business association. Help promote a positive image of the FACC to raise our visibility in the community. Enjoy diverse responsibilities working in a small office environment with a strong entrepreneurial business spirit. Increasing levels of responsibility based upon successful completion of assigned tasks and duties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

 

  • Excellent listening and comprehension skills required, willingness to take notes, follow directions, complete projects efficiently and independently on time or ahead of time.

  • Professional telephone manner. Detail-oriented, fast, accurate typing, meticulous proof-reading.

  • Highly productive, goal-oriented, reliable, and dedicated to the highest quality results.

  • Strong ability in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; training provided for Wix.com, Constant Contact, Greater Giving, QuickBooks Online.

  • Interest in or knowledge of the Greater Philadelphia area and the local French-American business community.

  • Assist with mailings, office supplies, photocopying, errands, and other projects as needed.

  • American English speakers with some French proficiency preferred, but not required, for positions 1) Membership & Events Coordinator,  and 2) Editor & General Manager of the FACC Membership Directory.

  • Native French speaker with English language proficiency preferred for position 3) Trade Services Assistant.

  • Occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours may be required to prepare for and assist at events.

  • US Citizenship, Greencard, Optional Practical Training Visa, J-1 or J-2 Visa, or other US working papers required.

 

NUMBER OF OPENINGS:  4-5 ongoing, rolling opportunities, minimum 20 hours/week up to 35 hours/week, flexible hours to accommodate classes or work schedule, minimum 3-month commitment up to 18-months. Apply anytime.
