No drop-ins or phone calls will be accepted.  Candidates under consideration will be contacted within 48 hours.

Volunteer Internship Description:

The Philadelphia Chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce (FACC) is seeking two part-time volunteer interns (undergraduates, graduate students or recent college graduates wishing to enhance their skill set) to start immediately and work mostly remotely 10-20 hours per week for a minimum of six months. Generally, hours are flexible as long as deadlines are met. Interns will have the opportunity to be involved with at least one in-person event per month (as long as pandemic protocol permits).

You will need to use your own laptop and cell phone, both of which need to be in proper working order, for this internship.

This is an unpaid, volunteer internship. Excellent recommendations and referrals will be given for excellent work. Must be COVID vaccinated and boosted.

You will train virtually with the senior interns and the Executive Director to manage and update the Wix website, prepare secure registration payment pages, create email communications in MailChimp, including the monthly newsletter, weekly announcements, the monthly TV5Monde announcement and report on email engagement statistics, prepare social media posts, update and maintain the Membership database, design event banners in Canva, and assist with virtual and in-person programs and events.

You will receive training in QuickBooks to set up accounts for new Members, invoice membership renewals, record payments and deposits, and reconcile accounts. You will attend quarterly Board Meetings, where you will meet the FACC's Board Members, and take the meeting minutes. You may be asked to run business-related errands within Center City, such as picking up the mail or print jobs at FedEx or Staples, and visiting the offices of FACC Members to pick up documents or make photocopies.

You do not need to speak French for this position as most of our work is in English. Native French speakers who wish to improve their English may also apply, however, the FACC is not able to host J-1 Visa candidates.

This internship is a great opportunity to meet business leaders from many companies. You will practice networking more effectively, broaden your contact base in Greater Philadelphia’s international business community, and learn firsthand how a small, nonprofit business association functions.

Interns assist with the planning, preparation, and execution of FACC programs and events (generally 1-2 events/month), including set-up and break-down. You will be asked to take photos on your phone at the events for our website and newsletter. Most events are on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 PM, virtual events are usually at lunchtime or after 5 pm. Occasionally, we have morning events. You may be invited to participate in other FACC meetings when appropriate.

Desired Qualifications:

Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Google email and Google Drive, Google Docs snd Sheets. Detail-oriented with excellent proof-reading skills. Qualities for success: creative, patient, focused, curious, friendly, motivated, goal-oriented, self-starter, helpful, comfortable taking initiative once trained, able to work independently and as part of a team, enjoys meeting new people. Candidates must be reliable, responsible, and conscientious.
