Strangers in a Strange Land:

Online Gatekeepers and Locked In Workers

Meet the Speakers

The first speaker is Theo Arcin, visiting French intern at Troutman Pepper Locke and Élève-Avocat à l’École des Avocats de Rhône-Alpes.

 The Non-Compete Clause:

Between Freedom of Work and Competition

A comparative look at France and the U.S.

Can an employee be prevented from working after leaving a company... and at what cost?

His presentation analyzes non-compete clauses as a reflection of the fundamental choices made by legal systems with regard to freedom of work, competition, and innovation. While French law offers a stable but costly framework, recent events in the United States have transformed a common contractual practice into a major political and regulatory issue.

The second speaker is Matteo Rubolino, visiting Italian Law Clerk at Troutman Pepper Locke, LLM graduate, candidate at New York State Bar and Italian Bar.

 The Responsibilities of
Hosting Providers in the Digital Age

Have you ever paused to question the truth of what you read online?  Or whether the content you encounter is verified, secure, and respectful of your privacy? In an online world where misinformation spreads easily and personal data is vulnerable, hosting providers play a crucial role. He will explore the different protections and regulations that shape these responsibilities in the European Union and the United States.

About the International Law Committee (ILC)

The ILC is excited to invite you to our event. For more than 28 years, French interns have come to Philadelphia to undertake a 6-month internship. As part of this program, it has become a tradition for them to finish their visit by presenting about a matter of interest of French and European Law.

Nous espérons que vous serez présents!
