Meet Our Guest of Honor
FACC Philadelphia 2026 Global Leader
In 1989, Peter incorporated the Philadelphia Chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce as the Founding Secretary and a Founding Board Member. He also served as President for 16 years. He has served continuously on the Board of the FACC for the past 37 years.
Peter serves as Co-Chair of Fox Rothschild’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group and Chair of the firm's International Practice Group. Peter handles a wide variety of corporate matters, both international and domestic. He represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, corporate finance, joint ventures, insurance and reinsurance transactions. Peter has worked on over 300 M&A transactions throughout his career. He provides general corporate representation to many public and private companies, with a particular focus on advising European companies entering the U.S. market. He previously served as Co-Chair of the firm’s 200-attorney Corporate Department and as a member of the Executive Committee, the firm’s governing body.
While previously serving as the Chair of the International Practice Group at an AmLaw 20 law firm, Peter was the architect of the first-ever acquisition of a European law firm by a U.S. law firm with which it had no prior affiliation. This historic acquisition received extensive press coverage in both the U.S. and Europe. Immediately prior to joining Fox, Peter was an equity partner at DLA Piper.
Peter studied international economics at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he also completed the Landegger Honors Program in International Business Diplomacy. While at the School of Foreign Service, he also studied at the University of Dijon in France. He then earned his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center where he had a concentration in international law. After graduating from law school, Peter studied private international law at The Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands.
In 2005, the President of the Republic of France, Jacques Chirac, bestowed upon Peter the title of Chevalier (Knight) of the French Legion of Honor. The French Legion of Honor, which was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, recognizes eminent service to the Republic of France and is the country's most prestigious award.
For more than 10 years, Peter served multiple terms as Co-Chair of the International Law Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association. In addition to the FACC Board, Peter currently serves on the Boards of Canada Life Reinsurance Company, the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, The Pennington School, the Bordentown Historical Society, Washington Crossing Park, and the Andalusia Foundation. For the past 18 years he has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Pennington School, a private, secondary school near Princeton, New Jersey.
Peter previously served on the Boards of the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, HSBC Bank USA (Advisory Board), the Declaration Fund, Philadelphia University, and the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation.
Peter helped organize an “Invest in Philadelphia” conference for French companies at the Musee D’Orsay when the Impressionist paintings from the Barnes Foundation were on exhibit in Paris.
Peter is very active in philanthropic initiatives. He has participated in medical missions to Haiti in conjunction with The Pennington School and to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in conjunction with the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation.
Peter maintains the world’s largest private collection of furniture, paintings, books and documents owned by Joseph Bonaparte, the elder brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. Joseph was at one time King of Naples and later King of Spain. Peter curated an exhibition of his Bonaparte collection, which was profiled in The New York Times. Peter appeared in a television documentary, “Bonaparte’s Retreat,” which has aired many times on PBS. He was also instrumental in preserving 60 acres of the former Bonaparte Park in Bordentown, New Jersey which was slated for commercial development.
International travel is one of Peter's passions and his goal is to attain membership in the Travelers' Century Club by traveling to at least 100 countries. To date, he has visited 95 countries.
