Amanda Wetzel is a Shareholder at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC’s Philadelphia office. Amanda practices in Buchanan’s litigation and international trade and national security practice groups. She holds law degrees from Columbia Law School (J.D.) and Université Paris I-Panthéon, Sorbonne (Master 1 in French law and Master 2 in international commercial law). Amanda has significant experience advising on international trade remedies litigation, commercial litigation, and international arbitration matters.
Amanda has more than fifteen years of experience as an attorney and, earlier in her career, practiced law in Paris and as a member of the Paris bar. She has been involved in the Philadelphia Chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce (FACC) for nearly five years and enjoys building business connections between the U.S. and France and socializing with FACC members who share her passion for French culture.
In addition to Amanda’s work in private practice, she has had significant engagement throughout her career on international human rights issues. When she was a young attorney, she completed a long-term fellowship at the Open Society Foundations, where she primarily focused on litigation before the European Court of Human Rights. In addition, Amanda studied and worked on human rights issues related to the Northern Ireland conflict as a fully funded scholar at the Queen’s University of Belfast School of Law, where she earned her LL.M. in human rights law.
Amanda completed her undergraduate education at Penn State University’s Schreyer Honors College and enjoys serving on the Board of Visitors for the Penn State Department of Political Science. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys attending classical music concerts and also enjoys playing the oboe.
